How is Breast Reduction Surgery Performed?
Today, many women suffer from back and neck pain due to large breast structures; they complain of postural disorders caused by the weight of their breasts. In breast reduction surgeries, the aim is to correct the skeletal structure and provide physical relief, before aesthetic concerns. Very large breast structures restrict physical activity, cause problems like sagging, and can be a source of anxiety as an aesthetic flaw, damaging a woman's self-confidence.
For breast reduction surgeries to be performed, breast development must be completed, with a few exceptions. Surgeries performed at a young age can lead to serious physical damage to the breasts. For surgeries performed at a later age, detailed mammograms are taken to decide which method will be used for breast reduction surgery.
In breast reduction surgery, after the breast gland and fatty tissue, as well as the skin, are excised, the nipple and the dark area surrounding it are repositioned, and the breast tissue is brought together at this midline. Two surgical techniques are applied in breast reduction surgeries; these techniques are named according to the scar they leave around the areola. The scars remain around the nipple for life; however, the scars fade over time and lose their bothersome appearance.
