Why Does Dandruff Occur?
Dandruff on the scalp and eyebrows is a problem that affects many people… Dandruff, which is a temporary condition, can develop due to various reasons.
Factors Causing Dandruff
The factors that trigger dandruff are divided into two categories: internal and external. Metabolic causes such as overactivity of sweat glands, stress and fatigue, hormonal problems, poor nutrition, excessive consumption of fat, starch and sugar, illnesses, and inadequate hygiene directly affect dandruff. In addition, practices that cause problems on the scalp, such as frequent hair dyeing, blow-drying, excessive use of hairspray and gel, not rinsing hair properly, or infrequent washing, also lead to dandruff formation.
Dandruff can be controlled through hormonal treatment, balanced nutrition, or controlling external chemical applications. Furthermore, shampoos specifically produced for dandruff can also be a solution to the problem. Shampoos containing coal tar, salicylic acid, sulfur, or selenium sulfate can prevent irritation and scaling of the scalp.
Reducing carbohydrate intake and adopting a diet rich in B vitamins is also beneficial against dandruff.
