Causes of Infertility

Causes of Infertility

Infertility can be defined in a narrow sense as the inability to have children, meaning the inability to conceive. In some countries where population growth is very low or almost non-existent, low fertility is considered a disaster, and it is requested that medicine fight this situation with all its means.

In such countries, infertility is spoken of if pregnancy does not occur within 18 months of normal married life, a condition seen in 10 percent of couples. The responsibility rests with one or sometimes both partners, depending on the situation. There are two main types of infertility in humans: infertility called secretory and infertility due to difficulty in gamete encounter.

It is also possible for these two types of infertility to occur together in the same couple from time to time. A distinction can also be made between primary infertility, where there is no fertility since the beginning of sexual life, and secondary infertility, where there have been many previous conceptions.
